they would have been deleted, if not used within the time stated to keep this type of data.....did you read/ask how loing they would keep your data on record for??

They say "for as long as necessary", which I figured would be as long as the conflict was ongoing, but apparently not.

Some time ago, I put myself forward to house a Ukrainian refugee. Heard nothing until this week, so firstly ask if I would still be interested, e-mail them the details of my domicile again and got a response saying they'd be in touch if they found anyone suitable. Likely to be a single person, as I only have one spare room now that I've fully sorted out my office.

The only thing that concerns me is that they asked for my housing details again, as I had to do that on the initial form on the government website. Which if they no longer have, is concerning as where have those details gone?

I'm probably being paranoid as it's not like the council, government, police etc. Don't have all those details, but being asked again is a bit odd.

Has anyone else housed a refugee? Either from Ukraine, or Syria, where I'm think I'm right in saying they also recently extended the service to?

In my experience, not odd at all, there is little evidence of "joined up Government", in the UK, and, has not been in my life time.

Yeah, I read through with a bit more care. Looks like the initial application goes to Central Government, who will hold on to it "for as long as necessary" was which point it gets sent to your Local Authority, so I suppose the "long as necessary" period is over.

It's not an arduous process, describing my little place, thankfully.

Would that be such a terrible thing?

Might be, particularly if you belong to one of the groups persecuted by the National Socialists, but, if not, then, yes, life might be sweet, lots of beer festivals, and, less litter in our streets (just two advantages which spring to mind).

Not all Germans are Nazis, any more than all Brexiters are racists. Nazism would have run its course by now, even if not defeated militarily in the 1940s.
Englishness seems a bit redundant these days: I mean, what's the point of it?

As would the Jewish people in Europe.

You may well be right, but, it is a bit rough, if you happen to be one of those persecuted groups, whilst waiting for it to "run it's course".

Rather like telling one of todays persecuted minorities to just wait 80 years and all (may) be well.

A few million more people murdered eighty years ago, probable entrenchment of fascistic governments across Europe.

Yes that would be a terrible thing .

Well by that logic it's a shame GB wasn't crushed militarily, neutered and brought to heel in the 17th, 18th or 19th centuries. Talk about long-term entrenchment of a supremacist ideology costing the lives of millions of oppressed indigenous people. Jeez. Come on Nazis, do keep up..
But I'm talking about now. I'd take a passport showing me to be a citizen of Lesser Germany if it meant no more UK conservative party.

Have you gone and done your share of getting shot at yet ?
Same old tired dog with the same tired old bone....

You would be happy to see Russia overrun Ukraine and its neighbours? Allow it's soldiers to rape abuse and kill the citizens of a free and democratic country(s) Subject those that survive or cannot flee to an oppressive totalitarian regime?

You would have preferred that the Nazi regime was allowed to dominate Europe and slaughter a few more Jews in the process.

You'll be happy to let China walk into Taiwan unopposed of course....

I'll take your answer to be yes, you'd be up for all of that...

Well, it may well have been 'better', but, we can never know, can we, because it didn't happen. But, because GB did these things in the past, it is OK (for everyone) to continue doing it.

Well it might well have been worse but we can never know, can we, because it didn't happen, the outcome of Nazism not having been militarily defeated in the 1940s?
