In all seriousness though, we might try and get to the Hope Show this year as I think it's back on after pausing for Covid. My wife loves a silly chicken.

My train got held up by a cygnet-on-the-line whilst travelling from Manchester to Hope, one time..

My Japanese carriage companions found it highly amusing / mystifying ..

Yes, big agricultural show in the Hope Valley. Prizes for prettiest sheep, silliest chicken, guiltiest sheepdog, all that kind of stuff.

If you prefer more vintage machinery we've also got a big steam fair up in Anston. Traction engines galore.
