What you learned from me then? Your views changed at all?
Have they bollox, you think what you do and I think what I do, I just have the balls to say so and not try and make out "I come on here to learn new things ".

Very little, other than that you seem to be quite angry about what you see on television, apparently.

Oh, and that you voted to leave the EU.

I'm happy to take these views on board, I know others with them, but that doesn't mean they will change my opinions unless you're making a compelling argument, which I don't believe you have so far.

There have been a couple of things (not on the new part of the site) which have changed my mind about politics, language, food, health and cycling, but personally I don't respond particularly well to what I believe is a particularly aggressive style of posting.

I know you did. It isn't.

What answer could be given to your question that would cause any reasonable person to say "Fair enough, that does deserve a rape threat"?
I was intrigued as to what sort of forum and what sort of posts could possibly get someone wound up so much that they would threaten to rape someone?

The danger of conversing on the internet I guess.

Certainly not angry, just can't see the need.

I mostly agree , although it's always a bit of a mystery when people say that public attitudes, are not changed by what they see on the screen..

So all those incredibly expensive adverts serve what purpose exactly??

I meant changed by a one off show or a single advert. Obviously the portrayal, or omission, of certain communities in/from popular culture greatly affects how they are perceived.

Wouldn't you have to ask the person making the threat rather than the recipient?

Perfect example, the recent show called Vigil.
Not that good in the end but why make the lead character a Lesbian, following the death of her Husband in a car crash, it added nothing to the story line.

Silent Witness, new Character a Lesbian.

Grantchester, Gay Vicar.

I don't go on the forum so asked the person who did, you took it on board to insult me for asking.
Then you call ME a snowflake, not a clue!

Are you a fella or a Woman?

I suppose there isn't a "need", but I think it's a good thing that "minority" groups are represented.

We're around, we exist.

Why shouldn't we be on TV or films?

It's representative of society.
You/they should but almost every show and advert?

I think producer's are taking the p*ss out of minorities, "let's see how many we can get in this advert".

I watched one advert and the whole family was Ginger, even the Cat!

Well if I'm being cynical I might think it's tv companies trying to appear more 'woke' and get more viewers, and thus cash, by adding what they perceive as spicy sub plots that will bring in the punters.

Alternatively it might just be over compensating for the fact that gay women have been all but invisible on tv until fairly recently. I guess eventually it will settle down to a point where such things are not even worth remarking upon.

Did I?
What people do in private I have no issue with but I clearly do object to the Wokey, lefty misrepresentation of society portrayed on Television these days, but you know that already. 😉

It's not misrepresentation, it's how many peoples lives actually are.

Just not yours maybe.

But other lives are available, and are equally valid :okay:

I guess it comes down to perception, but personally I don't see it.

Yes, representation is getting better, though I don't believe it's in "almost every show and advert".

It's something that can happen very often to women, even on mainstream social media.

There's a certain nasty sort of guy who can't seem to bear a woman having a different opinion, and daring to express it.

Can you believe that. ??

They will resort to misogynistic slurs, and threats of violence, sometimes sexual violence.

Pretty grim stuff eh??

Obviously they should be ashamed of themselves, but clearly they're not.

IMO the latter points is where it will settle , I don’t think it did add much to the plot to be fair. It was Shute ending anyways
