This quote is the truth. Lewisham Anti-Raid got the message out, but at least half of us in the blockade live in the flats. Decent ordinary people protecting our neighbour and friend.

No doubt the home office and right wing press will put a different version of events out. Don't believe their lies. I was there.

The police an immigration officers were being deliberatley heavy handed and were trying to provoke a reaction. Some of the officers I spoke to were reasonable, but one IO was right in my face when I asked if his colleague could turn off the van engine, we have signs up in our close to ask vehicles not to idle and pollute the air. He pocked me in the chest while shouting something about me threatening his colleague. The WPC who I had been talking to 2 minutes before did and said nothing to stop him. I walked away, but I saw people sitting on the floor being kicked, stomped on and forceably pulled.

I asked if they could reverse the van a few meters so a disabled neighbour could use her car to go out. The IO refused. One told me "tough for her, tell the crusties to move then we'll move" The blockade had said they would let any neighbours through in their vehicles. I spoke to a Sargent who told me that he didn't believe there was a disabled woman and it was just a "publicly stunt."

I found the commander who to his credit was polite and helpful. He gave me the CAD number which he said our disabled neighbour could use to claim back a taxi fare.

Thing was, the police had locked down our main entrance and said they weren't allowing anyone in and out unless they could prove they live here. I saw neighbours who were prevented getting to their homes because they didn't have anything with their address on them.

There was this one bloke who looked out of place. On a bike but had a radio on him. No uniform and no identifying number. A couple of times I was talking with an officer he seemed to be listening in. When I spoke to the officers who had created a blockade at our main entrance asking them if they would allow the taxi in for our disabled neighbour (they refused btw) this mystery man told me under some section (can't remember now) the police are allowed to close a highway during an ongoing operation, or something like that. I asked if he was police, he ignored me. I saw him riding around and then taking to the commander and other senior officers.

Anyway, all worked out well in the end. I'm now on the Lewisham Anti-Raid WhatsApp group so am ready to respond when it happens again in our area.

Well done, it's scary how thuggish, and unpleasant some pols can be towards the people they're supposed to be 'protecting' .

And be deliberately provocative to get a rise.
Seen it plenty of times.

That a primary school teacher, who is also a politician, is actively standing by their ethical code. ??

The first flight scheduled to take asylum seekers from the UK to Rwanda will not depart as planned on Tuesday after a last-minute legal battle, the Home Office has told the BBC.
Up to seven people had been expected to be removed to the east African country but the flight was cancelled after the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) stepped in.
It followed the UK's highest court saying the flight could go ahead, and after a series of legal challenges in Britain failed.
The flight had been due to take off at 22:30 BST from a military airport in Wiltshire but after a series of linked judgments in Strasbourg and London all passengers were removed from it.

Just imagine the stress and mental torment - torture you could say - that these unfortunate people are suffering at the hands of this evil regime. Utterly, utterly disgusting.

It could be worth messaging every possible airline which could possibly be involved in these deportations and pointing out how bad for their rep the doing of this dirty work will be.

Spanish charter airline Privilege Style is under fire for agreeing to fly refugees to a new UK offshore processing center in Rwanda. The airline is due to fly its first planeload of refugees out of the UK on Tuesday evening. And while the unlucky passengers aren't getting much love from the UK Government, they do have plenty of supporters who are doing their best to name and shame the parties involved in the sordid business, including Privilege Style.

Whichever plane they use, Privilege Style is offering a masterclass in bad corporate decision-making and trashing an airline brand. Privilege Style has gone to ground and disabled their social media accounts. But the online fury is threatening to spill over and tarnish other aviation industry companies who do business with Privilege Style, including travel group TUI UK.

And it's not just TUI UK feeling the heat. Online activists are unearthing the names of airlines and other organizations that do business with Privilege Style and calling them out. Privilege Style does brisk business with Spanish football clubs, including Sevilla FC and Atletico de Madrid. And Tuesday isn't the first time Privilege Style has accepted money from the UK Government to transport refugees. In December 2020, Privilege Style operated a deportation flight from the UK to Jamaica. Last year, the airline twice flew deported Afghani refugees out of Germany.

But Privilege Style isn't the only airline earning a quid operating what critics call government-funded human trafficking flights. Hi Fly, Titan Airways, Evelop, TUI, Air Tanker, and the Home Office's travel booker Carlson Wagonlit Travel have all been involved in UK deportation flights over the last two years. Privilege Style is simply the latest airline to join this conga line of shame.
